Election Commission gets less than expected

RIGA (LETA) – After considerably underbidding the Central Election Commission's (CEC) requested allocation to stage a referendum this fall, the Latvian Finance Ministry upped the ante.However, the 171,000 lats ($271,800) the ministry allocated July 13 is still considerably less than the 246,000 lats the CEC originally requested.The Finance Ministry, which set 171,000 lats as the limit, initially allocated 118,000 lats.
