SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS CHIEF STEPS DOWN: Colonel Andrius Peckys resigned as chief of Lithuania's Special Investigations Unit July 26, Interior Minister Ceslovas Blazys said. Peckys, 35, said he decided to resign of his own free will, but some have suggested his downfall had to do with a purging of law enforcement officials appointed by former Prime Minister Gediminas Vagnorius.
