Illegal goods get a warm reception

TALLINN(BNS) - Officials at Luhamaa checkpoint on Estonia's border with Russia on Nov. 9 staged the first-ever of burning illegal goods seized from private individuals on the border.Burned in a special oven were 556 items, mostly footwear and sports clothes, Johannes Mannik, head of the Southeast customs inspectorate, said. Mannik said the pirated goods, mostly counterfeit Adidas and Nike sportswear, had been seized between April and August from individuals coming from Russia to sell them on Estonian open markets.Scores of CDs and video cassettes, also found by experts to be pirate copies, ...
