The Lonely Planet guide book recommends two books in particular to anyone heading for today's Baltics. One is Anthony Powell's "Venusberg." The other is "The Baltic Revolution," by Andre Lieven, Moscow correspondent for The London Times. Lieven's prize-winning opus on the three post-Soviet Baltic states is impossible to put down.
