VILNIUS – First, farmers from northern Lithuania took to the streets last week to demand millions of litas owed them by processing firms for their sugar beet crop.The farmers were loud enough to get the money that was owed them, but not before they made national news, armed with angry signs and banners.But even with this disagreement settled, Peasant Party leader, Ramunas Karbauskis has promised a nationwide farmers' strike on July 13, should the government ignore other issues such as late subsidy payments.
