Race car collision kills seven

MADONA, Latvia – Two out-of-control racing cars careened into a crowd of fans in eastern Latvia on the afternoon of June 27, killing seven and injuring 25. Five spectators died at the scene, but neither driver was hurt. Twenty injured spectators went to the local Madona district hospital and then a helicopter flew some of them to hospitals in Riga. Five were treated at the racing scene and released. Two more victims died in hospitals.
