The Lithuanian Competition Council ruled that the country's dairy companies had not arranged a cartel agreement, though it still hit them with fines for exchanging confidential information. The biggest fines went to Pieno Zvaigzdes and Rokiskio Suris, or 865,900 litas (251,000 euros) and 824,000 litas, respectively. The competition authority also levied fines of 256,500 litas on Marijampoles Pieno Konservai and 183,800 litas on Vilkyskiu Pienine. Kelmes Pienine was fined 76,300 litas, Kelmes Pieno Centras 21,000 litas and Modest 7,000 litas. No sanctions were imposed on Zemaitijos Pienas, which had also been suspected of cartel activity. The commission established that the company was not a member of the Lithuanian Dairy Producers' Association, Pieno Centras, and had not exchanged information either with the association or with other dairy firms.

Former Eesti Raudtee (Estonian Railway) co-owner Edward Burkhardt will return to Estonia after he, former Estonian Railway board member Riivo Sinijarv and Finnish businessman Lasse Sandgren formed Navirail, a firm that will operate on the Muuga-Helsinki route. Sinijarv said that according to preliminary information the ship, carrying containers and trucks between the Estonian and Finnish capitals, will arrive on March 17. In the future Navirail will ship containers by rail between Muuga, Budapest and transport hubs in Europe, for which the firm will buy locomotives and rail cars. The trolleys would come with adjustable gauge allowing them to operate on both 1,520 millimeter and 1,435 millimeter track.
