Doctors' union sees health care system in critical state

VILNIUS (BNS) - The situation in the Lithuanian health care system is catastrophic with respect to both doctors and patients, the Lithuanian Doctors' Union said in an address to the president, the parliamentary speaker and the head of the parliamentary Health Affairs Committee.The union said in the statement that the growing debt of the National Patients' Fund to hospitals and drugstores poses a threat to the quality of treatment and provision of vital medication.
