Adamkus asks government minister to resign

VILNIUS - The state tax inspection said that Sigitas Kaktys, minister of administration reforms and municipal affairs, failed to declare his purchase of a plot of land as required by law. President Valdas Adamkus asked him to resign, but Kaktys refused to do it and denied any significant wrongdoing.This year Kaktys bought a 900-square-meter plot in the prestigious Antakalnis district of Vilnius for 54,000 litas ($13,500).
