NEW CROSSING: Estonian Prime Minister Mart Laar and his Latvian counterpart, Andris Skele, agreed Sept. 9 on the setting up of a new checkpoint on their common border. Laar said money for the checkpoint in the Estonian town of Moisakula has already been allocated in the state budget, and it could open in a year's time. Skele said Latvia is prepared to lift weight-per-axle restrictions for certain stretches of road to make the new crossing possible.
