Coalition plans for next year's budget battle

TALLINN (BNS) - The council of Estonia's ruling coalition met Sept. 6 to devise tactics for debates on next year's state budget.Andres Tarand, chairman of the coalition council, said that the three parties - Pro Patria Union, the Reform Party and the Moderates - will not reveal before the Oct. 17 local elections what steps they will take to avoid difficulties next year."These are tactics of struggle, which aren't for publication in advance," Tarand said, adding that in the runup to the local polls all statements about the state budget could be interpreted as pre-election propaganda.The coa...
