Up to 20 schools declared 'dangerous'

RIGA - As many as 20 schools in Latvia are falling apart and pose a danger to students and teachers, according to the Ministry of Education and Science.Two weeks ago, the ministry suggested 82 schools violated safety standards, but officials, at that time, wanted to determine how derelict some of the buildings were.The ministry released the details of the crumbling schools to reporters at a news conference on Sept. 9.
