Estonians end Latvian's adventure

TALLINN (BNS) - A Latvian man who had braved the waves of the Baltic Sea in a rubber-foam boat for seven days was picked up by a passing Estonian ship last week.After drying off, 28-year-old Juris Melniks was undeterred, saying he plans to cross the Atlantic in similar fashion in the near future.Melniks' journey from Stockholm to Estonia was interrupted after seven days when the ferry Kapella took him aboard at about 6 p.m. Sept. 2 near the island of Uto, a few miles from the spot where the Estonia ferry sank in September 1994, the Postimees newspaper said.The crew of the Kapella, a ferry c...
