RIGA - Cesu Alus, Latvia's second largest beer producer, announced it was planning to export beer to the United Kingdom this fall.

Eva Sietinsone, board chairwoman, could not specify where Cesu beer would be on sale in England, nor was she sure about the approximate volumes of exports. She said the company was now busy testing its products and studying the British market.

The possible distributor for Cesu Alus products in Great Britain may be the company Cesu U.K.

In 2004 Cesu Alus, which is controlled by Estonia's A.Le Coq, sold 4 million liters of products, 30 percent more than in 2003, increasing the company's share of the Latvian beer market to 17.5 percent. Last year Cesu Alus posted sales of 9.4 million lats, 53.8 percent more than in 2003.

In 2004 the company was 1.1 million lats in the red, which is twice less than the year before.

A.Le Coq, the second largest brewer in Estonia, is in turn owned by Finland's Olvi Oy, the third largest producer of beer in Finland.
