TALLINN - The supervisory council of Hansabank last week approved Erkki Raasuke as board chairman and CEO of the Hansabank Group.

During the past two months Raasuke, who was previously head of the Estonian business unit and deputy chairman of the board, was acting CEO after the recent shuffle of top executives at the bank, the Baltics' largest.

Raasuke said that he was eager to begin work in his new position given the successful track record of the Hansabank Group, which last month took its shares off the market and became fully owned by Swedbank. Raaskuke stressed that full ownership of the bank would not alter its strategy.

"Hansabank's organizational arrangement and management responsibilities will remain, and we will continue implementing our current strategy. We have set ourselves very ambitious targets, but I am confident that we have all the necessary ingredients to reach them," Raasuke said.

Priit Poldoja was appointed head of Hansabank's Estonian business unit and Margus Rink became head of the Estonian retail banking division. Previously Poldoja was head of the bank's Estonian retail banking division, and Rink was head of the office network.

Shares in Hansabank were traded for the last time on the Tallinn Stock Exchange on June 30, as precisely a month ago shareholders in the bank endorsed takeover of small shareholders' shares by Swedbank.
