Pensions adjustments may trigger Y2K bug

RIGA (BNS) - The computer system of the Latvian National SocialInsurance Agency may not be able to handle the Y2K problem if pensions will be adjusted this year, the heads of parliamentary factions in the coalition goverment told Prime Minister Andris Skele.After the meeting between the prime minister and faction leaders Oct. 26, Latvia'sWay chairwoman Kristiana Libane told reporters that the NSIA computer system was the weakest.
