RIGA - Jazz lovers will be licking their lips at the prospect of seeing the sensational jazz vocalist Kevin Mahogany perform live alongside the world-famous Igor Butman Quartet from Russia.

Critics have all but run out of superlatives to describe Mahogany's voice and its extraordinary range. But it's not just his music that makes him such an endearing figure. His live performances are well-known for their intimacy and warmth, something that he shares in common with the Igor Butman Quartet. They chat and joke with the audience and play some blistering music in between.

"It is not necessary to explain anything: for us, it's a great pleasure to play jazz, and for our audience to listen to it; that's why we get together," Butman says.

So expect a night of wild improvisation and a real live show, the sort where the audience is as integral to the show as the performers.

But most of all just relish Mahogany's extraordinary voice. When this artist sings, whether its jazz, soul or gospel, you can't fail to be carried away.
