RIGA - After getting the key to Riga Palace less than a week ago, President Vaira Vike-Freiberga heard about 200 demonstrators in the palace square call for her to reject a controversial language law passed in Latvia's Saeima by members of Parliament only hours after her inauguration.The call echoes similar requests from European alliances including the Council of Europe and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.The mid-day demonstration lasted for an hour and included people of all ages wearing black gags across their mouths that read "language law" in Latvian.
