Lithuanian budget readied for hacking

VILNIUS - The government has revised its 2000 budget, proposing enormous budget cuts and using economic tough talk that is not surprising many.The move, which has been called 'necessary' by supporters and 'late' by opponents, would see budget cuts amounting to 450 million litas ($112.5 million), or 6.2 percent, of the national budget of 7.21 billion litas. The revised budget is 6.76 billion and must still be approved by the Parliament. The cuts affect most sectors of the government.
