Ambassador vows Sweden to support Latvia's defense system

RIGA (BNS) - Sweden will continue its support to upgrading Latvia's
defense system and developing of the crisis management center, Sweden's
ambassador Hans Magnusson promised during a meeting with the new
Latvian Prime Minister Andris Berzins on May 23.

Magnusson said he was satisfied that ferry traffic between Riga and
Sweden's capital Stockolm was to be resumed soon, the government's
press department told BNS.

Berzins and Magnusson discussed further development of the Stockholm
School of Economics in Riga. The ambassador said Sweden would continue
to support the project.

Latvian premier and Swedish ambassador confirmed there was strong
cooperation between the two countries and said the upcoming visit of
Sweden's Prime Minister Goran Persson to Latvia on June 27 was proof of
the good relations.
