On Saturday, the traditional exhibition of houseplants will open in Tallinn Botanic Garden, featuring more than a hundred houseplants. New and exciting houseplants will be on display in addition to already familiar ones. Excursions and workshops will be held on the weekends.
“There will be several plants at the exhibition that have never been displayed at the Botanic Garden before," said Urmas Laansoo, the exhibition's curator and botanist. “For example, new varieties of aglaonema, Siam tulip, monstera peperomia and rocktrumpet, as well as 15 species of waxflower will be shown for the first time.”
“Alongside the newcomers, visitors can also find long-established houseplants that do well with a little care and are suitable for novice plant lovers. There will be something for everyone," promises Laansoo.
On the two weekends — 18-19 April, 25-26 April — there will be a curatorial tour by Urmas Laansoo in the Palm House exhibition hall at 12:00, a plant conservation tour in the Palm House guided by plant conservationist Pille Hermann at 13:00 and a planting workshop at 14:00. The workshop will be led by instructors Krista Kaur and Tiia Jaanus.
The exhibition Enchanted by houseplants will be displayed in the conference hall of the Palm House from 11:00-16:00 on 18-26 April. The entrance fee includes all the activities of the exhibition.
