VILNIUS – Vaida Markeviciene, a former deputy finance minister, has been appointed deputy chairwoman of the Bank of Lithuania board, and Evaldas Ruzgys, head of the central bank's Market Infrastructure Department, has been appointed a board member.
President Gitanas Nauseda signed the decree confirming the appointments, his office said on Friday.
Between 2020 and 2024, Markeviciene oversaw EU investments, international financial assistance and financial markets policy at the Finance Ministry. Her earlier career included serving as a presidential advisor on economic and innovation policy, heading the central bank's Bank Resolution Division, and holding posts in international institutions.
At the Market Infrastructure Department, Ruzgys has been responsible for the central bank's payments market policy and strategy and oversaw the Centrolink payment system.
The Bank of Lithuania board is currently chaired by Gediminas Simkus. Julita Varanauskiene serves as deputy chairwoman, and Marius Skuodis, a former transport minister, is also a member.
