Lithuanian, Finnich PMs to discuss security issues situation in Ukraine

VILNIUS – Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas is set to meet with his Finnish counterpart Petteri Orpo in Helsinki next week to discuss European security issues and the situation in Ukraine.

Paluckas will visit Helsinki on Monday with a delegation that include representatives the Office of the Government and the Foreign Ministry, as well as Lithuanian Ambassador to Finland Edvilas Raudonikis.

The prime ministers will also discuss bilateral relations and the European Union's multiannual financial framework for 2028-2034, the Finnish government's press service said on Thursday.

"Lithuania and Finland have a lot of common interests, especially when it comes to developing European security and defense. Finland’s comprehensive security model, preparedness and security of supply have been generating particular attention lately," Orpo was quoted as saying in the statement.

During his stay in Helsinki, Paluckas will also meet with Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Speaker of the Parliament Jussi Halla-aho.

Finland joined NATO in April 2023.
