VILNIUS - Lithuania’s Prime Minister Inga Ruginiene will on Friday visit Latvia, where she will participate in a meeting of the Baltic Council of Ministers and meet with the local Lithuanian community.
At the meeting with her Latvian and Estonian counterparts, Ruginiene will discuss joint solutions for strengthening regional security and coordinating actions against Belarus' hybrid attack, the prime minister's spokesman, Ignas Algirdas Dobrovolskas, told BNS.
Earlier this week, the Lithuanian government declared a nationwide emergency situation over the threat posed by smugglers' balloons from Belarus, citing risks to national security and civil aviation.
The meeting of the Baltic prime ministers will also discuss the progress of the Rail Baltica European-gauge railway project and the countries' common priorities in the European Union (EU).
During her working visit, Ruginiene will also visit the Lithuanian secondary school in Riga and the Lithuanian embassy.
