VILNIUS - Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways, LTG), Lithuania's state-owned railway company, will launch extra train services to Poland from December 14, and instead of one, there will be three daily train services – Vilnius-Warsaw-Krakow, Vilnius-Szczecin and Vilnius-Suwalki.

Starting in December, travel times will be shortened and connections to other European cities will be improved, LTG Link announced on Tuesday.

Passengers will still be able to choose the midday trip to Krakow via Warsaw – the travel time to Warsaw will be reduced by one hour and that to Krakow will be shortened by two hours.

Travelers will be able to leave for Szczecin early in the morning, reach Warsaw by noon, and arrive in the city near the German border by 7 p.m. This route will also provide access to one of the oldest cities in Poland, Poznaz.

"We believe that the new services and shorter travel times will further encourage people to choose sustainable travel by train for both leisure and business purposes," says Kristina Meide, the CEO of LTG Link, the group's passenger arm.

According to the press release, shorter travel times between Vilnius and Warsaw and more flexible schedules will provide more opportunities for convenient transfers to other local and international train services.
