VILNIUS – Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday voiced its strong protest over the mass bombing of Ukraine by the Russian military forces on Wednesday, involving missiles and drones.
At least six Ukrainian civilians were killed and many more injured during the attack, and civilian infrastructure, including power plants, seaports, residential buildings, and a kindergarten, was also damaged.
The ministry's note to the Russian Embassy underlined that "the Kremlin's ongoing cynical attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure are a gross violation of international law and international humanitarian law."
"Such attacks also constitute war crimes under Article 8 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, for which full accountability will be sought," the statement said.
Lithuania believes that Russia's actions once again demonstrate that the Kremlin regime is not interested in peace and continues to seek to subjugate its neighbor.
According to the statement, Lithuania demands that Russia immediately cease its aggression against Ukraine and pledges to continue working with its allies to help Ukraine strengthen its ability to defend itself against this aggression.
