Latvian Fur Trade Free to Grow with Citizens’ Initiative Thrown out by Saeima

RIGA - Last month, the Saeima rejected a citizens’ initiative against the breeding of fur-bearing animals. The initiative was organized by animal rights organization Dzivnieku Briviba and signed by more than 10,000 Latvians. The verdict: 60 votes against and just 16 votes in favour of further pursuing a Latvian ban on breeding and killing animals for their fur.
