RIGA - Latvia's former women's basketball star Uljana Semjonova died on Thursday at the age of 73, the Latvian Basketball Association (LBA) reports.
Semjonova was the leader of the Riga TTT team and the Latvian national team from 1968 to 1987. She was an 11-time winner of the European Champions Cup and the Liliana Ronchetti European Cup, four-time champion of the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR.
Semjonova was a two-time Olympic, three-time world and ten-time European champion while playing for the Soviet Union. She was the first European inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield in 1993, the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 1999, and the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2007.
