MANILA - In the final for 5th place at the FIBA World Cup on Saturday, the Latvian national men's basketball team crushed Lithuania 98:63.
Arturs Kurucs led the scoring for Latvia with 20 points, followed by Rolands Smits with 17 points and six rebounds.
Rokas Jakubaitis was the top scorer for Lithuania with 16 points, followed by Jonas Valanciunas with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Latvian point-guard Arturs Zagars also broke the FIBA World Cup single game assists record previously held by Toni Kukoc, as he made 17 assists.
This was the first ever participation of Latvia at the FIBA World Cup.
