Latvia, Lithuania to sign agreement on cooperation in emergency medicine

RIGA – This week Latvian Health Minister Anda Caksa (Greens/Farmers) will meet with Lithuanian Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga to sign an agreement on cooperation in emergency medicine in the border area of the two neighboring countries, said Health Ministry’s spokesman Oskars Sneiders.

The agreement will mean that Latvian ambulances could provide services in the Lithuanian territory near the Lithuanian-Latvian border and vice versa. The agreement also provides for exchange of information, organization of joint trainings.

The ministers will sign the agreement on October 3. The signing ceremony will be followed by a press conference.

The agreement will be in force for three years. It will then later be extended for a next period of three years unless any of the party raise any objections in writing.
