According to Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius, Lithuania could begin talks with Israel regarding the import of Liquified Natural Gas at specialist level as soon as 2016.
Israel is set to begin the mass production of LNG next year.
"We said we have our LNG vessel, and we said our terminal in Klaipeda is different to theirs because it’s based offshore,” Butkevicius told BNS.
Butkevicius then revealed his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, said it is likely Israel’s LNG plant is likely to be launched in the second half of 2016.
"Certainly, we cannot speak about gas exports until 2017, but at specialist level, this issue could be discussed as soon as next year, in order to look into transport costs and transportation possibilities.”
