RIGA - Fans of Turkey, Greece and Finland are most interested in the decisive matches of the European Men's Basketball Championships (EuroBasket 2025) in Riga, while fans of Germany are less interested, Kalvis Kovalevs, the marketing manager of EuroBasket 2025, told LETA.
The tournament's semifinals will be played tomorrow at Xiaomi Arena in Riga, when Germany will face Finland in the first semifinal match, while Turkey will play Greece in the evening match.
Meanwhile, the bronze medal match and final match will be played on Sunday.
Kovalevs said that 70 percent of the available tickets to the final match have been sold, and about 60 percent of the available tickets to both semifinals matches, and the bronze medal match.
The Turkish and Greek national federations have requested 1,500 tickets each for their matches, the Finns have asked for around the same number, while the Germans are expected to purchase three times fewer, or around 500 tickets for their matches. There are currently around 1,000 seats available for the final match, but these tickets will only go on sale after the semi-finals.
Janne Virtanen, head of the official fan club of the Finnish national basketball team, told LETA that he expects around 1,500 Finnish fans to turn up. He added that if there was a guarantee of wider availability of tickets, more fans would be willing to come to Riga.
Virtanen is worried that there might not be enough tickets for all the fans already in Riga, but hopes that people will turn up and enjoy the atmosphere anyway - even if they can't watch the games in the arena.
