VILNIUS - France and Romania are set to take over NATO’s Baltic air policing mission from Spain on Tuesday.
A formal handover ceremony for the military units will take place at the Siauliai air base on Tuesday.
The incoming French contingent, deploying four Dassault Rafale fighter jets, will succeed the Spanish Royal Air Force, which guarded Baltic airspace with F-18 Hornet fighters.
A Romanian Air Force unit will also arrive in Lithuania as an augmenting contingent, deploying six F-16 Fighting Falcon jets.
