RIGA - SpaceX's first Starlink broadband internet system in Latvia has been installed at a psychiatric hospital in southern Latvia, Environmental Protection and Regional Development Minister Arturs Toms Pless (Development/For) informed on social networks.

The service is currently being operated in a test mode. "We are awaiting feedback on the speed and quality of the service and user experience," said Pless.

As reported, Economics Minister Janis Vitenbergs (National Alliance) made a working visit to the United States at the beginning of April where, among other things, he discussed cooperation with SpaceX's internet satellite company Starlink.

Recently, responding to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, SpaceX sent the necessary Starlink equipment to Ukraine to provide the service in areas where access to the internet has been disrupted by warfare.
