RIGA -  On September 8, the State Secretary of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andris Pelss, met with the non-resident Ambassador of Bulgaria, Selver Ahmed Halil, LETA learned from the Foreign Ministry.

Pelss underlined that Latvia and Bulgaria are linked by a good political dialogue; however, their cooperation holds plenty of potential for further development in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

The State Secretary thanked Bulgaria for work invested in the organisation of the Three Seas Initiative (TSI) Summit this past July 8-9, and he underlined that cooperation between the two countries will have a major role to play in preparations for the next year’s TSI Summit in Riga.

This year represents the 30th anniversary of the renewal of diplomatic ties between Latvia and Bulgaria, while in 2022, the two countries will celebrate the centenary of their diplomatic relations.

The Ambassador of Bulgaria to Latvia resides in Sofia, Bulgaria. The Ambassador’s remote accreditation with the President of Latvia, Egils Levits, took place on July 5, 2021.
