Water levels dropping at Plavinas

RIGA - The dangerous water levels in the Daugava River at Plavinas has been gradually reducing today, according to local authorities. Water levels are receding by about two centimeters per hour and are now at 11.60 meters above the local station's benchmark.Water levels overnight had reached 11.80 meters above the local station's benchmark or 70 centimeters above the critical mark.

A number of buildings that belong to the local government and some private properties have been flooded in Plavinas as ice blocks have caused the River Daugava to overflow.
