RIGA - Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the leader of the democratic forces of Belarus, will visit Riga Friday and give a keynote speech at a discussion on Belarus' role in Europe's political and security architecture, LETA was told at the Foreign Ministrty.
At the discussion "The Role of Belarus in the Political and Security Architecture of Europe: Perspective from the Baltic Region", co-hosted on Europe Day by the Latvian Institute of International Affairs (LIIA) and the Foreign Ministry, Tsikhanouskaya will address participants and policy experts from Lithuania, Poland, and Latvia. The event will be opened by Foreign Ministry Parliamentary Secretary Artjoms Ursulskis, and LIIA Director Karlis Bukovskis.
As part of her visit, Tsikhanouskaya is scheduled to meet with Foreign Ministry State Secretary Andzejs Vilumsons.
The leader of democratic forces of Belarus will also participate in a conference on parliamentary democracy held by the Baltic Assembly, meet with Saeima Speaker Daiga Mierina, and attend the unveiling of an exhibition about political prisoners in Belarus.
