RIGA - President Edgars Rinkevics wishes new Pope Leo XIV strength in this challenging time and hopes for closer cooperation between Latvia and the Vatican.

The president noted on X that Latvia and the Holy See have always enjoyed cordial ties.

As reported, US Cardinal Robert Prevost, 69, was elected as the new head of the Roman Catholic Church on Thursday.
