RIGA - Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics, congratulating Baiba Braze on her appointment as the foreign minister, wished her strength in steering the "diplomatic ship".
"I wish you strength, good luck and a sense of humor in this crazy world, steering the ship of Latvia's diplomacy," the president said in a post on his Twitter account.
As reported, Rinkevics expressed his support for the confirmation of diplomat Braze as the foreign minister before the vote of the Saeima.
Rinkevics told reporters on Wednesday that he knew Braze well enough from the time when he was a minister and even before that.
Saeima today confirmed the long-serving diplomat Braze as the foreign minister with 66 votes to 11, with nine abstentions.
