RIGA - Work of the runway at Riga International Airport is back up and running in full and the airport is operating in the usual mode without capacity restrictions, airport representative Ilze Salna informed LETA.

Flights at Riga Airport are departing/arriving as scheduled.

"The past days have been difficult for passengers, airlines and airport employees alike, for whom the airport board is grateful for their selfless work, restoring the safe operation of the airport after the heavy snowstorm," said Laila Odina, the airport's chairwoman.

Due to heavy snowfall, Riga Airport was closed on Friday evening, resuming operations early on Saturday morning. The airport was operating at a limited capacity on Saturday morning, and intensive work continued throughout the day to deal with the effects of the snowstorms and to transport delayed passengers to their destinations, according to the airport's statement.
