Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius, who is planning a visit to the United States next week, says that one of the main purposes of his trip will be a search of new markets for Lithuanian food products.

"We will be discussing possibilities of food export to the U.S. This will be one of the main issues for discussion," Butkevicius told national radio on Tuesday.

The prime minister is going to pay particular attention to the trade and transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Lithuania as he expects that LNG will be allowed to be exported next year when the U.S. complete the construction of LNG terminals.

Butkevicius will meet with Vice President of the United States Joe Biden, commerce, agriculture, energy and trade officials, as well as with business associations. The PM will also meet with the Lithuanian community in the U.S.
