Latvia prepares to vote for new government as polling stations open

Polling stations in Latvia have opened today as the country prepares to vote in its 12th consecutive national elections. 

A total of 1,052 voting stations will be open during the 12th Saeima elections in Latvia and around the world. There will be 99 voting stations operating abroad.

It will not be possible to vote at most voting station until election day on October 4, but voters unable to travel due to health reasons. 

Meanwhile, some voting stations will offer voters the opportunity to submit their vote beforehand. This is an opportunity for those who will not be in the country or are busy on voting day to submit their vote.

The vote will be kept for safe keeping, and will be deposited in the voting box on election day of the voter does not come back to retrieve the vote if he/she changes their mind.

The voting stations will also offer information about the parties running in the election, their list of candidates, party program as well as other information on the voting procedure.

The voting stations will be open Monday and Wednesday, from 5pm to 8pm, Tuesday from 8am to 11am, Thursday from 9am. to noon and Friday from 10am to 4pm.

The 12th Saeima elections will take place from 7am. to 8pm on October 4.
