Latvia pays off part of bailout loan package

Next week, the State Treasury will repay a part of the loan issued to Latvia from the European Commission that was taken during the depths of the country's economic crisis, said State Treasury spokeswoman Eva Dzelme, reports LETA. The State Treasury will repay 1 billion euros to the European Commission on March 25.After the March repayment, the next part of the loan repayment plan will be in 2015, when Latvia is scheduled to repay the European Commission 1.2 billion euros, and the World Bank 60.05 million euros.The EU loan program for Latvia concluded on Jan. 20, 2012.
