From March 22 onwards, citizens of Latvia will be able to travel visa-free to the United Arab Emirates, the Foreign Ministry's Press and Information Division informed LETA.

The Permanent Representation of the Republic of Latvia to the European Union was informed about this by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Belgium. Applying the parity principle, the European Commission is considering including the United Arab Emirates in the list of countries the citizens of which do not require a visa to enter the territory of the Schengen Agreement member states, including Latvia.

The Foreign Ministry welcomes the decision of the United Arab Emirates to abolish visa requirements for the citizens of Latvia.

The holders of non-citizen passports of Latvia can receive detailed information on the required documents and visa application procedures at the UAE Embassy in Germany, Berlin. The embassy is accredited in Latvia.
