Latvia's culture needs better marketing in order to compete against the entertainment, sport, television and computers industries, Culture Minister Dace Melbarde says.

According to the minister, the quality of culture marketing is of utmost importance in order to educating Latvian culture buyers.

If children are not well-educated and taught to read books, go to concerts or theater performances, their main sources of ethical and moral knowledge are computers. If parents do not attend cultural events, their children inherit the same timidness, the minister told the Neatkariga Rita Avize programme.

Melbarde believes regional cultural centers play a considerable role in creating a cultural environment, reports LETA.
