The worlds first ‘Twitter Opera’ is coming to Latvia.

In June 2012, Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves held a heated debated with New York Times columnist Paul Krugman. The two exchanged words on the status quo of Estonia’s economic situation - it’s recovery from crisis - which Krugman criticized.

Now the conversation on social media site Twitter has been turned into an opera. It’s written by Daugavpils-born Eugene Birman, who studied composition and economics in the U.S and Estonia. The opera is performed by mezzo soprano Iris Oja of Estonia. She impersonates both debaters. Guna Aboltina features on cello.

Nostra Culpa will be performed on Oct. 18 at the Design Factory, in Riga.
