RIGA - Across from the Riga Passenger Port at Republikas Square 1, construction is under way on the Stargorod beer brewery and restaurant - a project from a team of Ukrainian investors valued at 18 million euros, reports Nozare.lv.
The developer is Baltic Pub Ltd., and it has completely revamped the existing edifice. State-of-the-art brewing and catering facilities and equipment will be installed, manufactured in the Czech Republic.

Doors are to open at the end of this year, and customers can expect classic types of Czech beer, snacks and entrees, and big screens all around for sports viewing.

Andrejs Sikors, the Alus braliba Association’s chairman of the board, said that “the appearance of new players on the market is a good thing; the number of micro-breweries is growing, and this can be applauded. Such breweries offer a special product, satisfying consumer demand. Stiffer competition will facilitate beer drinking, and - maybe - boost consumption, which is quite low in Latvia.”
