TALLINN - Japanese Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura visited Estonia on Sept. 19 and held talks with Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip, reports LETA/Postimees. Nishimura said: “Estonia is known more and more in Japan – thanks to your information technology achievements and Estonian sumo wrestler Baruto.”

Nishimura said that Japan is primarily interested in cooperation with Estonia in the IT sphere and expressed hope that the Japanese can contribute to Estonia diversifying its energy portfolio.

Ansip said that the relations between Estonia and Japan are very good and cooperation has become active in recent years thanks to projects based on the pollution quota trade.
