VL-TB/LNNK to give Kozlovskis three-month “trial period”

Mar 22, 2013

RIGA - All for Latvia!-For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK (VL-TB/LNNK) will recall the signatures for a vote of no-confidence against Interior Minister Rihards Kozlovskis (Reform Party) and give him a three-month ''trial period'', VL-TB/LNNK leader Raivis Dzintars told LETA.

Dzintars said that VL-TB/LNNK awaits active work from the interior minister during this time to implement the necessary regulations so that such events, like the ones that took place on March 16 at the Freedom Monument, never repeat themselves.

At the same time, it is also important to maintain public order also at such events like May 9, Dzintars emphasized.

VL-TB/LNNK points out that it wishes to find out how sincere was Kozlovskis' apology, as well as his attitude towards Latvian Legionnaires.

Thus, VL-TB/LNNK will recall the MPs signatures to call a vote of no confidence against Kozlovskis, and return to this matter in three-month time.

As reported, on Monday, VL-TB/LNNK issued an official motion demanding Kozlovskis be released.

VL-TB/LNNK emphasizes that the police allowed mockery of Latvian Legionnaires at the Freedom Monument on March 16, which is unacceptable and must never happen again.

VL-TB/LNNK is upset that during the solemn remembrance proceedings at the monument, the police allowed persons to disturb them with loud sirens and obnoxious Russian music.

Saeima was to hold an emergency session to review VL-TB/LNNK's motion calling for Kozlovskis' resignation on March 25.
