Cabinet approves electricity law amendment

RIGA - The Cabinet of Ministers committee on Feb. 18 approved amendments to Latvia’s Electricity Market Law, which stipulate that the market will be deregulated for households on Sept. 1 this year, reports Nozare.lv. This means that households, like legal entities now, will have to choose their electricity distributor.Before the amendments are reviewed by the government, the Economy Ministry must draw up a report on the effect that opening of the market could have on electricity rates.
